The organiser of a foam party here has not obtained permits from the Johor Baru District Office and Johor Baru City Council (MBJB).
Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khaled said the state government was paying serious attention to the event.
He said a check by the Johor Religious Islamic Department (JAIJ) showed that the Johor Baru District Office and MBJB had not given the green light for the organiser to hold the event.
“The event was supposed to have been held at a swimming pool of a hotel in Johor Baru on Friday (Dec 16),” Fared said in a statement Thursday (Dec 15).
He said that the organiser was a non-Malaysian citizen and the event would involve free mixing between men and women.
“We will take preventive measures to ensure Muslims will not attend the foam party,” he said.
Mohd Fared said JAIJ would take action against the organiser under the Johor Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment if the organiser proceeds with the event.
“As of now, the hotel has informed us that the event has been cancelled,” he said.
