London 30 October (20). In 2014, Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula. That same year, Russian special operation forces captured Donetsk and Luhansk, two of the main cities in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine and created puppet pro-Russian regimes there to further destabilize Ukraine. Media, academic and general coverage of the War on the Doorsteps of Europe received shock, disbelief and a bizarre debate on the greatness of the Russian Federation. In particularly a German article received my attention which ought to be considered. The Russian Federation is morally bankrupt. Regardless of the BRICS meetings and the self-flagellation of its…
Tajikistan officially banned the hijab, imposing hefty fines in its latest move to curb Islamic influence. The Central Asian nation of Tajikistan officially prohibited the wearing of hijabs and other “alien garments” this week, as the country’s parliament passed a new bill regulating Islamic clothing and Eid celebrations. Under the new law, individuals wearing hijabs or other banned religious clothing could face hefty fines of up to 7,920 somonis (approximately $700). Companies…
Brussels (50). Two years in the war of Russian aggression against the Ukraine the balance is grim. Let us take stock. Leadership. The EU model of command and control consist of an old grumpy old general, an Austrian, who nobody has heard before, taking a political control of a pretty large army based of a defeatist model. The question to pose is the General who often is compared with Franz Josef I. suitable for modern command? The likely answer is no. The European play wars. The Europeans appear to be out of the fight. NATO command is in contradiction with…

The Philippines has said it summoned China’s ambassador and was considering the possibility of expulsion after two confrontations with Chinese ships over the weekend in the disputed South China Sea. Manila said its vessels were hit by Chinese water cannon on Saturday as they tried to send supplies to Filipino fishermen at Scarborough Shoal, which was seized by Beijing in 2012 after a months-long stand-off. On Sunday, meanwhile, ships trying to resupply sailors on board the grounded Sierra Madre on Second Thomas Shoal in the Spratly Islands were also hit by water cannon, amid a collision with the Chinese coastguard that Beijing blamed…
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian government hopes that there will be a permanent ceasefire in Palestine, saying that the current four-day ceasefire is only the first step to ending genocide in Gaza. In an interview with Al-Jazeera Mubasher released today, Malaysian Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the four-day ceasefire is something that Malaysia, along with Indonesia and other Muslim countries, has always welcomed but is still hoping that a permanent solution can be found to end the conflict. “I think this is the first step… I believe that probably a lot more needs to be done, as Israel has…
Proposed RM5 Fare for Malaysians on Johor Bahru-Singapore Shuttle Train Draws Mixed Responses Online
SINGAPORE: Malaysians may soon pay a flat RM5 (S$1.44) rate for each trip on the Shuttle Tebrau train service between Johor Bahru and Singapore’s Woodlands, according to Malaysian transport minister Anthony Loke. The proposed move has received praise from Malaysian netizens who welcome the cheaper fare, but others have criticised it as being unfair in subsidising train tickets for Malaysian workers in Singapore who earn more than their counterparts in Malaysia. According to local media, Mr Loke said that the current fare for a one-way ticket from Johor Bahru to Woodlands is RM5, while a ticket for the return…
MANILA, Philippines — Chinese and Southeast Asian diplomats renewed a vow to finalize a nonaggression pact for the South China Sea in three years, two regional diplomats said Thursday. The pledge came during a meeting last week in Beijing, where they expressed alarm over recent confrontations in the disputed waters. The Philippines has protested what it says are increasingly dangerous and provocative maneuvers by China’s coast guard and navy ships in recent months. On Oct. 22, two Chinese ships blocked and separately collided with two Philippine vessels near the disputed Second Thomas Shoal in the South China Sea. Following the collisions, the United…

The ASEAN Solidarity Exercise in Natuna 2023 (ASEX-01N), hosted by Indonesia in September 2023, was the first joint military exercise exclusive to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The exercise was called a major accomplishment as ASEAN member states considered to be “pro-Beijing” such as Cambodia attended. This is not the first intra-ASEAN military drill held against a backdrop of tensions in the South China Sea. The ASEAN Multinational Naval Exercise (AMNEX) took place in Thailand in 2017, shortly after the South China Sea arbitration ruling. The second AMNEX was held in the Philippines in May 2023 amid renewed tensions between…
